There is a wild flower garden on Hackney Downs – for the second year running there is a wild flower area on the Downs. Myra Heller has been involved along with volunteers and the Parks Department people in seeding the area. On Saturday afternoons Myra is down by the wild flower area, talking to people and encouraging those interested to sign up to a Hackney Downs Garden user group. This will hopefully involve some wonderful plans to grow flowers, vegetables and fruit in the old bowling green area. At the moment you can chat to Myra about your plant issues and also buy reasonably priced plants from a selection available.
There are also workshops on the first and third Saturday of each month from 2-4pm. the whole family can attend and activities will include: plant propagation, wild flower planting and DIY insect hotels.
